Attached is a calendar with the Specials for the month of September. sept 09 specials

It may be helpful to you as you help your child dress appropriately for the day—girls: no dresses on PE day,  all: no “Sunday Best” on Art day, etc.  It will be very helpful for your child to have a pair of “PE Only” shoes to keep in his or her locker.  Then they will be sure to have shoes here so that they may participate in PE class.

Our field trip to DeGraaf Nature Center in Holland, MI, is this Friday, May 22.  Please see the attached information.  Hope you can join us!

A correction to the May Specials calendar……Mrs. Veldman’s 1st grade will go to DeGraaf Nature Center on FRIDAY, MAY 22.  The previous calendar post is incorrect.

The 1st grade Just Write Celebration is Thursday, May 7.  We invite you to join us from 2:55 to 3:25 in the afternoon to help us celebrate the great writing we have done this year.  We look forward to seeing you there!

I’m sure you’ve been reading and hearing all about our Just Write celebration coming up in May.  We have been busy little authors these past few weeks choosing a topic, planning out our story and adding lots of details.  We are also excited to have Shirley Neitzel, a Michigan author, coming to our school to help us celebrate.  Keep checking the Georgetown Blog for more information!

Thanks to all who were able to come and celebrate Valentine’s Day with us. We had yummy treats, played Sweetheart Bingo and open cards from our friends. Just a few pictures to share……

Just a reminder…..this Friday, February 20, is Popcorn and Pajama Day! We can hardly wait until the end of the week! In addition to pajamas, I have told the class that they may wear slippers and bring a stuffed animal with them to school, also.

Students may also bring their yearbooks back to school on Friday to collect names of friends. If your child did not purchase a yearbook, I will have a class picture book for them to use.

Just a little sneak peek at our holiday celebration…..finally held on January 9.

Mmmm…..the 1st grade highest bidders enjoyed their ice cream party today.  Even with the cold and snow outside, ice cream with lots of toppings is still pretty good!  What is your favorite flavor?
